Queens Taekwon-Do Center opens it's doors for the first time on March 1st 1992 in a studio located on Roosevelt Avenue and 88th Street in Jackson Heights, NY. The initial goal was to contribute to the community in the mental and physical formation of the individuals that reside in that area specifically children. One of our main goals is our to stimulate the students in the use of their hands and feet as tools for self defense. Starting with zero students, the school, now located on Roosevelt Avenue and 89th Street, counts with about 200 students.
The school offers morning and evening classes for the adults and afternoon classes for the children. The International and national experience of its black belts headed by Sahum (Master) Ruben Suarez, Black Belt VII Degree, NY State Director, has made possible the high competitive level of his students. This expertise meets the criteria to qualify the instructors as knowledgeable of the art. The school participates in local, regional, national as well as international events. Their participation has been excellent based on the results of it's competitors many times achieving first place positions.
Queens Taekwon-Do Center is affiliated to the International Taekwon-Do Federation (I.T.F). International organization founded on March 22, 1966 with head quarters in Vienna, Austria. Its founder was General Choi Hong Hi. He passed away in June 15th, 2002. Now Master Tran Triue Quan is the new president elected in democratic way in Varsow, Poland in the 14th congress of the ITF.
